The substage illumination mirror is flat, and only one reflecting side. Diameter is 3.5cm.

The microscope body and support pillar was designed to be removed from the top and stored within the chest. The brass carrying handle (arrow) would have been the only feature on the top of the chest. It folds down so as not to obscure the mirror.

The microscope comes equipped with a stage forceps. Opposite the forceps is a Black/White disc mounted on the pointer (now bent).
